Default 1995 transmission help needed

I just put in a used transmission that I picked up from a wrecking yard, has 78K on it and looked in great shape. Put it in and then it started spewing fluid from the input shaft around the torque convertor. I have never seen or heard of this before so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. It does drive and I did not overfill it so I am stumped.

Thanks for the help.

Sounds like the torque converter isnt in properly or your front seal is shot.

When it went in the torque convertor was all the way back in the transmission, it left about a 1/4 inch of space when I went to attach the flex plate, and so it pulled it out from the seal a little. That may be it, allowing it to let fluid through and come out the front.

Maybe I should check that again and see if I can get it back more.
