1996 Dis: II replaced radiator because overheating issues
I replaced Radiator because of severed leak issues, changed Thermostat also, but the gauge in my dash keeps going on and off reading extremely overheating, when this happens i turn off the car, check the radiator, which is not hot, and working correctly. I've changed the sensor tempeture, i don't know what else to look for.
Any ideas ???
Thanks, your comments are greatly appreciated.

I don't know, sounds to me like there is still air in the system. I remember when I changed out my radiator I had to bleed the system a few times to make sure I got it all out. Was the vehicle overheating before you changed the radiator/thermostat or did you only do that because the radiator was leaking?
Sounds like the water pump is not doing its job,,, inside of it rusted away?
Fan clutch not working and not pulling air?
If you pull the thermostat out will it over heat?
Can you tell if there is circulation in the radiator?

The water pumps is not the problem, already check for this. the radiador is circulating well, regarding the thermostat, not sure, we have not turn it on with out it.
I friend call and said it could be the radiator sender, not sure what this means ??
tks

Could be a bad sensor to the gauge that shows hot,, is what you friend is saying.
If the Rad is cold and the motor is hot around the thermostat I would think that you have another bad T-stat or you have blockage in the motor.

Remove the thermostat completely and run the COLD motor for 2 minutes with the cap off of the expansion bottle. Look inside the bottle to make sure the coolant is percolating. Put the cap on the expansion bottle and keep the truck running for another 8 minutes. If it shows that it's overheating, then you've a faulty temp sender. If it does not show it's overheating, then you have a bad thermostat.
