1996 vs 1998 LR Discovery reliability and potential purchase.
What is the opinion on importing one from Japan with low km's on it.

If you could get a LHD that would be great.
But you could buy a '04 here in the States for the same price as a '93 from Japan.
And dont forget you will have to pay shipping on a 6,000lb pakage.

I was getting one for 12+g's on the road, certified, e-tested, and all import modifications done to it.
It was diesel and returned around 30mpg combined use city and highway (that was reported anyways).
It's another option that I would like to explore as the price of gas is only going to increase in the future (bonus, I can veg oil this baby too).
Plus I'm sure that there are interested parties that would be interested in purchasing the Disco when I decide to get another one.
