Ok I'm new to post anything but have been using this site for 2 years and it's just amazing what helpful content has been created here, so a quick thanks. I bought my D2 about 2 years ago and have done tons of engine work and she has been a good strong truck and really owes me nothing, but with that said I'm not giving up on her now I love it to much. I had the transmission serviced about 6 months ago with new filter and fluids and since that I noticed a small slip from 1st to 2nd not real bad. I was living in Denver but circumstances brought me to GA which I drove my truck the entire way with a uhaul trailer and she did pretty well. A month ago she was having trouble going into 1st unless you pulled the rpms up then it would engage and was fine. Then one morning she decided to quit and it sat at the garage for a month. I towed it home and took out the entire transfer case and transmission. Now I'm a very good engine mechanic but not a transmission guy at all. I bought the reseal kit and did all that on the transfer case and swapped the torque converter in hopes this would correct the problem. Unfortunately it is back together cranks fine shifts ok into the gears but nothing is happening. Im so damn frustrated because I lost my job and have spent all the money I have left trying to get this truck back up for she is my only transportation ATM. I'm thinking new transmission but thought I'd put this out and see where yall take me. My name is Wil and I can be reached at 850-559-3492 because I'm desperate.

Xyz switch i looked at as well

I’m not a transmission guy either. I’m sure you checked that neither driveshaft is turning when you have it in gear? Just a thought, something weird like a broken axle could act like that in an All Wheel Drive vehicle like ours.

Are you sure you filled the trans properly? Fill, shift from fwd to rvs while running, fill, shift, repeat till full. It takes 12 qts.

The problem with the trans is the front clutch is that wears out on the front clutch apply piston. It won't be fixable without replacing the seal and the clutch pack. Your best option is complete transmission, used can be bought about $300. If you can do the work it is only about $80 in parts. Lots of info on the BMW sites as the 4HP22 was used for years in them. The later years 4HP24 is better, but needs a slightly different driveshaft. Find a breaker close to you, get a trans from them or attempt the clutch rebuild.

I thought so on the transmission but before I attempt to pull the cash together is why I was reaching out to make sure I get the right stuff.
