Default 1999 Disco 1 question regarding frame changes

Long story short Roadmaster tow brackets by application on RM's web page showing the 99 Disco 1 by itself. So I ordered the 1909-1 and when I received it, it was not close to fitting. Then I looked at the 1998 brackets which have a part number of 1904-2 and they appear to be closer to what I need.

Copied from RM's Application Guide:

DEFENDER 90 97 XL 1905-1

DISCOVERY 99 with factory brushguard 1909-1

DISCOVERY & LSE 95-98 no brushguard XL 1904-2

DISCOVERY II 99-04 Brushguard ok XL 1 1910-1

I have a mfg date of 05/08 and car fax lists my Disco as a 99 and all other paperwork confirms that it is a 99 so I belive that RM's application guide is in error but when I sent photos of my Disco they are now telling me that they do not have a bracket for my 99. Question, though silly, isn't my 99 just like the 95-98's ?

Also here is what Roadmaster said today....

I thank you for your patience.

I reviewed your pictures to the pictures we have on file for brackets 1909-1 & 1904-2. The front bumpers and brush guards are different between our pictures and yours. I also had our Installation Manger compare your pictures to the ones we have on file, he says your frame is different then our frame pictures. He does not believe that either of those brackets
(1909-1 or 1904-2) will fit your vehicle.

If you are going to be in the Portland area, we would review your Discovery and see what we can do to get you set up with brackets. You can order the
1904-2 but we don't believe they will fit your frame plus your bumper is different and they won't work with the rock guard.

Well do you have a DI or a DII?
With a build date of 08 I would say a DI which has a different frame than a DI.
Do you have a digital HVAC display?
Is your odometer LCD or mechanical?
Are your door handles flush or do they stick out?

Sorry, hit the "0" key instead of the "9" key so it should have read 98

So, I am also confused at this point.
Tell me if I got what you are saying, you own a D1, not a D2 and you want to install a new tow hitch???
How much are they quoting you for their hitch?
If I were you, I would consider going to , http://www.roverlandparts.com/land-r...r-hitches.aspx
and buying a good guaranteed used Rover hitch.

Disco Mike, hold on, your on the wrong end of the Disco... Roadmaster tow brackets are to Tow The Vehicle not for the Vehicle to tow with.

My Discovery is my 2nd vehicle when I take my Motorhome on trips.

Question still is: Were there any frame changes in the 1999 Discovery I that would affect the mounting of Front tow brackets. Were there any Frame changes in model years 1995-1999?

Link to Roadmaster... http://roadmasterinc.com/

Thanks Gary

As far as I know all D1s have the same frame and all D2s have the same frame, but the D1s and D2s are not the same frame. The D2 is longer and wider than a D1. Disco Mike will correct me if I'm wrong. I would assume that the frame on a 99 D1 is going to be the same with or without the brushguard.

I was actually making fun of Spike when I said I was confused. He said a D1 has different frame then a D1. I guess I read 98 even though you typed 08. Guess I knew what you meant.

I found this on the Roverland Parts website:

"In 1999 Land Rover manufactured both the Discovery I and Discovery II models. If you are uncertain of your truck model, please check your VIN number."

- 1999 Discovery I model VIN numbers begin with "SALJY"
- 1999 Discovery II model VIN numbers begin with "SALTY"

GUYS! I know what model it is!, refer to the posting, I am not asking the difference between the Disco I & Disco II. I am asking if the 1999 Disco I had any changes to the FRONT frame rails as the FRONT tow brackets from Road Masters (See Link & Original Posting) are listing 95-98 Disco I and a 99as a seperate animal aside from later 2000+ Disco's which I am concluding is a misprint in the application guide, I just wanted to make sure as I will order a bracket set for a 1998.
