Default 2 ques. tapping & O-2 sensors

Morning gang,

OK, the CEL came back on with the same O-2 error codes as before P1137 & P1138. I going forward with replacing them, but the workshop guide states there's a special tool. I this needed? If so I may just take it to my independent shop.

Part 2...I'm notice a tapping noise during accel. Lifters by the sound of it, but oil quality and level is in good shape...any thoughts??

As always thank you -Simon

The tool you mentioned is a socket that allows you to remove the sensor a littl bit easir then with just a wrench,
What year is your truck and what is it's mileage? How often do you chaqnge the oil?
As for the O2 sensors, best idea to change them both, Atlantic British has them on sale and I would also check the prices at Rover Connection.

On your "ticking noise"

It's not uncommon to have rocker arms start making noise on higher mileage Land Rovers. especially if previous owners were not diligent in changing the oil and using a quality product when they did. I have the complete sets available on the "Engine Mechanical" catalog page (http://www.eurotekapg.com/emc.html)

You must also check the rocker shafts themselves for wear.

Mike & Geoman, thanks as always. This is a 1996, prior to Oct productions which I think makes a difference regarding the 02, not sure if this is a Bosch engine or not??? The truck has 112,000...I've had it for less than 2,000 and did a complete fluid change the 1st weekend (thanks for the fluid info Mike). So the "special tool" is not required, may just save a few knuckles if I'm hearing you right. I'll hop on the AB & Rover Cont.

Mike do you have that list of recommended tune-up items also...thanks
