Default 2 in vs 3 in OME lift

Hey everyone,
I am about ready to take the dive into a lift. I am debating whether to go with the 2 or 3 inch OME lift. As of now, no off-road accessories, but I will be adding them on over the next couple years.

Main question, with the 3 in lift, will I need to start worrying about upgrading more hardware? I think I have read that mainly anything 4 and over you will need to do a lot of work, but does the 3 require anything? Or would I be better off sticking with a 2 inch lift?

I'd go 3" if I did it again. That being said, I don't think the extra inch would be an amazing upgrade off road, 1" really isn't anything.

I'm always a little confused by references to OME springs in terms of lift height. Aren't OME springs all a 2 inch lift, just with different spring rates (comfort, medium, heavy duty)? The listing on the ARB website actually lists them as 1.5 inch springs.

I have the heavy duty's in my DII, but I have an ARB bumper and a winch. The truck rides pretty firm, but I have no issues with the ride. The 265-75 16's fit just fine.

I think people use D1 springs for the 3" lift.

That makes sense. You need to use the DI spring seats in the rear to get them to work, don't you? You will also need longer travel shocks, longer brake lines and ABS extensions to use the springs to their fullest. A shorter lift can be done without all of the extras, but for full articulation you willneed to upgrade everything else as well.

You are right, to make a 3" lift with OME coils, you need to use the 751 front coils from a D1 and the 763 EX. H.D. real load coils which, if you plan to play hard and loaded, will b a great firm lift when empty but will hand anything you throw at it.
I would suggest you rethink this though cause driving it for a few years without all the mods added will make for a hard riding truck.
I would suggest you consider 779 front coils and 762 rear coils along with D1 spring seats for a great 2 1/2" plus inch lift with a much better ride.
