Went to install the new group 31 bigger battery. Battery fit in the tray like a glove was messing around with the negative wiring and pushed down on the ****ty plastic tube from rad. Broke right off
ok no problem good time for some 5/16 rubber tubing from rad right ?
went to take the rest of the plastic tubing out noticed top of rad a bit wet lol push down on it well we’ll well a bit of green stuff
so new battery Turns into another fed hundred bucks for rad tubing etc
I hate these situations haha I always think 'I wish I didn't know it was broken / something was wrong' to myself but it's always better than breaking down unexpectedly. hope it wasn't too bad!
I always feel like I’ve gotten away with something if a repair or upgrade doesn’t turn in to something else or add a nothing thing to the list after I’m done. Also, good to know you can buy tube by the foot from rock auto.
One issue with using rubber hose, it doesn't fit properly into grooves on top of each end of radiator shroud. If forced into groove, it collapses hose, restricting return flow to reservior. I like using copper tubing, easy to bend, fits in groove and is much more durable than plastic or rubber.
And yes, if you can make a repair, without causing another...it's always a good day.

ya I hear you on my old d2 I had that issue of the hose being too thick
I was thinking of using the copper actually. I have the 1/4,refrigeration stuff I think somewhere It’s thicker stuff over the water stuff
You could instead use just a short section of hose and a couple small hose clamps to splice the nylon hose that broke.
It's interesting to me that so many here have trouble with the nylon lines. I removed the one from the TBH to the expansion tank after I bypassed the TBH and I can literally tie it in an overhand knot without it breaking. It's the same kind of black nylon material used for the ugly "unbreakable" glasses I wore for high school sports.
The old “one step forward, two steps back” shuffle (maybe not that bad). Happens to me too frequently, but as you observe, at least it didn’t happen on the road (or off road). I broke that damn line on my last Disco…
