Hi all

Can anyone please advise me. I have a 3.5 V8i but it is in need of an overhaul. i have also got access to a recon 200 tdi engine out of my sisters disco. i would like to put the TDI into my disco replacing my V8 and retain the Auto box. Is this possible? Is it easy. or will i have to utilise the manual box currently mated to the TDI.

It is my understanding that only the series 300 had
the auto trans optional and that a series 200 would
not fit.
But due to limited gray market diesels in the U.S.
I stopped looking to swap my gasser V8 out.

I know you would have to change out the fuel tank, the ECU and some wire harnesses. You would need to find an adapter to fit between the tranny and the bell housing.
The down side of your idea though is that the tranny from a gas engine is not set up like a diesel tranny, different gearing and things.
