Smile 2000-D2 fuel pump disassembly help

Hey there guys,

I have read all the posts and I am sure its not the sensor and its the pump. Great info out there.

I have removed the entire pump assembly and for the life of me can't figure out how to remove the pump from the strainer housing that it is encased in.

I have attached a picture of the assembly for reference. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

JohnR

Exclamation Hey and words of advice are appreciated

I have read all the threads and they mostly reference the D1 when doing the fuel pump swap.

Can someone please help me out here and let me know how to heck to get the pump seperated from the housing that encases it.

I'm at a loss at how to do it and it's driving me crazy. see pic attached to my original post.

Many thanks

JohnR

I won't lie, even on my D1, that kicked my butt.... I busted some piece of plastic trying to get the hoses off the pump motor. Then I found out that the price difference was about $20 to get the entire assembly for a D1. Unfortunately the D2 pump is much pricier. Does your pump have a black connector on the top? If not, I'd probably pay the $250 for a complete drop in unit.

But to answer your question, I don't know how it comes apart for sure. From the photo posted, it looks like something might unsnap from the bottom....
