Default 2000 Disco with 185k

Well the wife and I purchased a 2001 landrover with 57k on the clock.

I get to drive it on the weekends.

I found a 2000 discovery with 185k on the clock. Has had all of the maintenace done all of it's life. One owner kind of thing. Has everything except rear jump seats.

It needs a radiator and a hub bearing.

it has optional land rover bike rack, roof rack, front bush guard and rear.

The person wants 1500 for it.

Is this worth it and what do I need to look for.

Let me know what ya think.

Thanks
Richard

I am all for high milers, but at some point, it becomes a roll of the dice as to how much longer it will last. Granted, I know some people with over 250,000 miles I also had a friend blow his engine last week at 215,000 miles.
That being said, for $1000 at the most, you won't be in bad shape. You can buy a used hub for the low $200's, a radiator for the mid $250' and plan on $300 worth of service parts, fluids and filters.
Let us know what you do.

I might talk with owner about looking at it this weekend.

Since the rad is gone I'll have to tow it.

Are you sure it even runs???
This is sounding more like a can of worms all the time.

Go check it out and see how well it runs, you cna start it and run it for a few minutes just no longer then 2-3 to see how well it runs.
If it runs good then tow it home, if it winds up being more $$ than its worth to fix then part it out.

We think due to the guy not being real helpful with info and telling me stuff after the fact we are gonna pass on it. The wife and I think you are right.

There are alot of good parts on it but due to it is on the other side of town 1.5 hrs away and does not run and can only meet at night we are gonna say put the money into my other car.

Plus the original add was nothing wrong except rad now it is rad plus etc.
