Default 2000 Disco 2 on sand dunes?

We have a park here on lake Michigan with a 400 acres of sand dunes for driving trucks, etc.. on.

Is there any concern about getting the D2 in the sand? Do you do anything special to clean it up after?

I'd just hose down the driveline when you're done. Whenever I come out of the woods I try to find a self-serve car wash and blast off the wheels from underneath, also the axles and driveshafts, taking care not to direct the jet at the seals.

Do you have 16" or 18" tires, you will want to lower the air pressure to 18#'s for better traction. If you really wanted to improve your traction, you should get a wrench and crawl under your truck and engage the CDL for about 50% more traction.
Go to a do it yourself car wash when done and power scrub every square inch of the truck including the entire engine compartment.
Oh, and don't play in the dunes with your sun roof's open, you may bring home more sand then you want.

1) Take a shovel with you. 2) Have fun, just don't bury it to the axles. 3) Clean the sand off the truck when done.

Enjoy, mine sees alot of the Pacific Coast and dunes.

I've climbed insane dune systems in mine, no cdl engaged, aired to 20. I bet it's even easier with cdl on.

Where do you live?
I am in Grand Rapids.
We have not hit Silver Lake yet but it is on the must do list.
And just so you know, deep sand is a great rim polish.
The last time we ran "The Tin Cup" (which has lots of sand) our rims never looked so good.

Yep, Grand Rapids area and Silver Lake it is. Haven't been there yet but just got this truck. Can you post some pics of the place from the Silver Lake web site so the folks know what we are talking about?

I ran my '99 D2 on the Bonneville Salt Flats during Speed Week in 2001. That was a trip. Took forever to get all the salt off the car. It was in places I didn't know I had...

Never run a D2 on sand, but in my Defender, I always hit a self service car wash and tried to get as much off the bottom and out of the running gear as I could before heading home.

Dry sand is not a problem, but wet sand is because it sticks to everything, dry sand will just fall off.
