Default 2000 Disco 2 Should the clock be illuminated at night?

And what to do if it should be and it isn't?

It keeps time, works.

Yes, the clock is backlit when the ignition is on. Here is a link on how to remove the clock to change the bulb. http://www.roverparts.com/TechTips/C...eplacement.cfm I used credit cards to push in the tabs on the clock instead of metal tabs.

Get one from the dealer if you have one local.

I clicked on the link on the clock replacement and it sent me to the entire clock. Where can I find just the bulb or does the whole console need to be replaced? Could you post pictures of your Alpine CD Player with ipod interface too please? Would love to see how you set that up, sounds like a sweet setup.

Gotta go to a dealer for the bulb in my experience on this. I did this last week, $4.50 a piece for the bulbs, I bought two. I also removed the fascia that holds the coin and ash tray to help out with the process, but I don't think it's entirely necessary.

It's a bit of a pain to get the clock out without breaking the plastic tabs, but should be possible if you are CAREFUL.

The clock will pop out without any other parts being removed, just be carefull when prying it out so you don't break one the the clips that holds it in.

And once you get the clock out, you can just unscrew the bulb holder. I, stupidly, thought you had to dissemble the clock. If it takes you more than 10 minutes to replace, you are probably over thinking it.

Also, the dealer is probably cheaper, but you can just buy this online:

Done.

Bulb was almost $10.00 at our local dealer.

I was able to use 4 thin kitchen knives and push them on top and bottom and pull the clock right out.

The unlock switch next to the clock is part of that panel and the knives need to go above and below that.

I didn't pull any panels but did remove the two bottom screws behind the ashtray to loosen up the bezel a bit to fit the knives in.

Bulb comes out / goes in with a 1/4 turn.

And it works.

Default Alpine with ipod interface

I like the Alpine and all of it's features, but even with the dark tint I have on the windows the display is hard to see during the day. I ran the ipod interface through the glove box and it is long enough to reach my lap. The remote is handy for easily changing tracks.

Such a simple setup but so nice. I can't believe I still have a tape deck in my 04.........lol. This is one of the things on my to-do list for my Disco. Thanks for the pictures and I'll be getting in touch in the future on how to install. Any extra speakers, amps or subs?
