Default 2000 Land Rover Discovery bad master cylinder

I found a 2000 Land Rover Discovery for 1700 with 105,000 miles and a bad master cylinder. Is it worth my time?

Default 2000 Land Rover Discovery bad brakes

Found a 2000 Land Rover Discovery with 105,000 miles and bad brakes. Guy said it could be the master cylinder, he wants $1700 is this worth my time? I really want a Land Rover (this would be my first) but I want to know if it is just going to be too much money to fix.

It probably is also suffering from the 3 amigo's. MC's are 150.00 all day long on Ebay.

I'd be more concerned with head gaskets, and rear frame rot (if it's from up north).

How good a mechanic are you? If the master cylinder is truly the only problem right now (unlikely) there will be other problems soon, especially if the truck hasn't been well maintained.

I see you're new here. Welcome to the DII forum. If you haven't done so yet I recommend that you spend at least a few weeks reading and learning.

This is a very supportive forum if you decide to buy a DII but for your own sake please, please do so only well informed and with your eyes wide open.

Good luck.

I'm not at all mechanicaly inclined but I'm trying to teach myself some stuff. And thanks for the welcome I've been doing some research and am still toying with the idea if purchasing it. I'm live in South Texas so it has been hot all year round. I'm looking at the car tomorrow so i hope for the best

If you don't plan on getting to dirty with your LR Austin Roverworks in Austin, TX is a very good place to take your LR. Ken & Billy are both Master LR Tech's and they'll truly take care of you.
