2001 d2 Coolant top radiator connecting (plastic) pipe to hard Brake line mod
Hello all,
I tried searching the forum without the result I am seeking. I am a new owner of a 2001 D2, I am somewhat good at mechanic and DYI. The item 13 on the sketch below on my D2 is broken, previous owner has a lot of hose patches along the way. I want to replace the item 13 however I notice the pipe seem to be some kind of plastic material. I tested the 5/16 hard line galvanized pipe which seem to be the similar ID as the plastic pipe. my questions are:
1 - does anyone know if engine coolant will corrode the hard brakeline galvanize pipe?
2- has anyone tried this method? ( using hard brake line vs OEM plastic pipe)?
another method would be using the 5/16 fuel hose (50psi) to connect reservoir tank to the top of radiator.
Most replace with a hose rather than another hardline. Not sure if brake hose will work but seems a lot easier to do maintenance with a soft rubber hose than a hardline.
Or stating the obvious, just replace with coolant hose. An old D2 I purchased had a long narrow rubber coolant hose on it instead of the hard plastic line.
