If you have $5,000 to put into this after spending $500 to purchase... why not buy a running driving example for <$5,500? I ask as I purchased a non running LR D2 for $1,000. I am currently all in for $3,300. About $1100 in repair/maint items and another $1100 in tools and upgrades. I am still ahead of the game, but I have a head gasket repair I need to tackle and the temperature runs at 205 deg regardless of what I have tried. All in all I have owned this truck 5 months, driven it ~1500 miles. As of today it starts and runs fine, but it a concern as it could go bad easily and quickly.

 

I buy these all the time for less than $1k. Usually they only need a little elbow grease and a few minor parts. Lot's of what to look for threads. Post up all the info you can find, then contact the Disco breakers on here for the parts you need (or ebay/rockauto/amazon).
