2001 Disco 2 SE7 Sunroof Randomly Opening
Ok, this is a weird one. Ever since I replaced the motors on both my sunroofs, the rear one randomly decides to crack open when I start or kill my engine. It doesn't open all the way, just angles up an inch then stops. I can immediately close it with the switch, but unless I remember to check if it's opened itself everytime I get out of the car, I sometimes have a lovely wet surprise after a rainy day. It doesn't do this ALL the time. It's totally random
Any ideas on why the heck it's doing this?
thanks, Mike

No clue here. Have you tried rear switch disabling to narrow down problem?
......
Both sunroofs are electrically
operated. Switches on the front overhead console control operation of the front and rear
sunroofs.
The rear sunroof can be operated by a switch located in the rear overhead console. The
switch is only operative when not disabled by the rear sunroof isolation switch located in the
front overhead console.

Mine does this. I checked all components and decided it was the control unit behind the front switches. Mine would operate the rear motor whenever it received power on startup. Sometimes it was just a bit, sometimes all the way to the first "vent" position. Either way, it was enough to allow the glass to leak if I did not catch it. I ended up installing a kill switch in the space below the HDC switch to isolate both until I wanted to open/close.
The latching switch used for the factory "parental control" fits perfectly. You can remove the orange face and replace it with the blank face down below and you're back to the factory look.
