Front Sunroof Opening Intermittently at Startup
So as the title describes...the front sunroof is intermittently opening upon startup. It does not happen all of the time, but happens frequent enough to want to address. I have already replaced the overhead switches (front and rear located at the front of the car) to no avail.
Thoughts on what is triggering the sunroof to open on its own?
A couple of notes:
- One thing I found was that when it happens, if I press the open for the front sunroof it stops until I release the button and then continues until fully open.
- In order to close the sunroof, I have to shut off the car completely and restart. Sometimes it take 2 or 3 attempts in order to be able to close the sunroof.
It seems something is sending an electrical signal to the sunroof - I am just not sure what it is.
Thanks in advance.
btw, 2004 Discovery HSE with 130k+ on the odometer.

Sounds like the sunroof ECU got wet at one time, and there is corrosion inside the ECU or you just have a bad ECU. You can find them on Ebay for around 20.00 and 94-04 D1/D2 = same ECU.
Did a new ECU fix your issue here? I am having the same exact thing happen, with the addition of the back sunroof not working at all.
Thinking of buying an ECU off eBay and trying it anyway. Are they difficult to replace? Do I need to drop the headliner?
