2001 Disco Alternator Specs - Winter Package?
I have a 2001 disco w/ winter packageand the alternator went out on it. I had it replaced by my mechanic and he mentioned that it was a high amperage one... well it died within a month and he replaced it assuming it was just a dud.. well, a few months later it has just died again. The only thing I can pick out that I had done around the time it died was use the front and back window de-icers. Is the amperage requirements for the alternator different when you get the winter package? And does anyone have the specs on the alternator it requires?
Thanks!
Thanks!
The cold package is not your problem.
You need a 130 amp alternator reinstalled and then go have a load test performed on both the battery and alternator, see what is the weak link.

He didn't say what amperage, but it's a bosch alternator. I'm going to see if I can get a part number off it and find out if it's not a 130. I have been using this guy for a long time and he is actually a friend of the family..so I do trust him. I found 130 amp land rover alt from a junk yard for 60 bux.. should I grab it?
a little more history.. I had a stone crack my windshield and the heated front shorted out and actually fused the drive side winshield plugs together. Problems seemed to havestarted when this happened. I have since changed the windshield.
