Charcoal canister
I have a disco 1 with the 4.0. Do any of you have a charcoal canister on the passenger fenderwell? Are any ports left open? I just felt an open unused port on mine while the engine was idling and noticed vacuum pull there... I plugged it or is it supposed to be left unplugged for emissions or??? Thanks!
If you have a round charcoal canister you have a early EVAP system.
That is what I have and there 3 places for lines two are together one above the
other,, then on the motor side there is one open spot for a vacuum line to go.
Mine does not have a line on it and never has it can pull air in when the evap valve
is open to burn the fumes off the gas tank.
The early evap systems are much easier to work with.

landzu is dead on, it will have vacuum but only during purge valve activation, this is to get rid of the fumes in the canister, as long as the vent valve has not failed open, its normal... and you would have a check engine light and a p0455 code if it was failed
