Default 2001 Disco front grill removal question?

I have a 2001 discovery that currently doesn't have functional horns and I need to remove the front grill to access them. Now after reading the rave file and searching google I cant seem to find the answer to my question. The rave says that I have to remove the front turn signal to get to the bottom screws holding the grill on, but I was wondering if i could just take off the front headlight trim to get to those screws? It seems I can get the trim off by going thorugh the wheel and removing the screws holding the trim on. Any advice would be appreciated.

Before tangling with the trim, consider the underhood fuse box, F-16, and relay R13. You can remove relay and short pins for contacts 30 and 87 in the socket. Might be quicker than going in the front door...

BTW, if grille gets broken in the process, see write up in tech section for Saudi grille. And while you are there, lube both ends and the mechanism of the hood cable and latch. Owners have had to cut grille open sometimes because cable pulls out in your hand...

If the relay/fuse isn't the issue and you have to take the grill off, just follow the RAVE. Turn signals come out easy with one screw up top and then then pull out, and the lower trim under the headlight is then exposed. Turn your wheels all to one side, and use a screwdriver bit in a ratchet to get that screw out via the wheel well (comes out from the back). After that, there are just 2 screws on the bottom and 3 on the top for the grill. You could do it in 5 minutes total. BTW, those "Scrivets" on the grill can be a royal PITA. One of mine just kept spinning and and spinning. I really think those things are designed as one time use. Get something flat and skinny under them and put pressure while you unscrew.

Well one of the first things I did was to check the fuse so I know thats good, but I have to admit I never thought about the relay. I'll check that out tomorrow with my fingers crossed of course. I always like easy and cheap fixes.
I figured I was going to have to remove the turn signals but I was just thinking about if I could cheat and skip a step. Also I have to agree those plastic screws aka scrivets suck to work on with any application that I've encountered.

Update: Well the grill removal went well, and wasn't that bad. Hardest part was getting the headlight trim back into place. It did turn out to be two bad horns so that was a relief that it wasn't a wiring issue.

Thank you for the followup repair confirmation!
