2001 discovery 11 new owner issues
Hi, New to the disco and to the site. Lots of info. Just bought this, love the way it handles but have issues. It starts and idles, spits and sputters until comes up to temperature, then it will go but no power. try to give it throttle and it goes slower. You must feather gas pedal in order to go,cannot get it to go over 2500 rpms. What is the problem?installed new spark plugs, air filter and spray cleaned mass air flow sensor.appreciate any info.thanks
Oh forgot to mention we are over 100 miles from a dealer

thanks for the quick response. We will get the code read, new to the disco we didn't know never to clean the MAF they sell a special cleaner, It has 84,000 miles and we don't smell coolant in the exhaust or when we first start it. Will get back to post when we get some code.

This sounds like weak fuel psi to me, you will need to check the fuel pressure.
The fuel pump is easy to replace.
As long as you use the proper MAF cleaner and follow the directions to the letter you should be fine.
You can rent a fuel pressure tester.
Dont worry about going to a dealer, 95% of the time you dont need one.

How do you go about testing the fuel pressure. I looked under the car ,can't find any fitting to put a tester on ? Do I need to pull up the carpet, if so it doesn't look user freindly for removing.
What is the pressure suppose to be ?
Really appreciate the info ,was thinking along this line or maybe a plugged
screen but didn't know how to get to it or where to begin with what problem could be.
thanks
