2001 SE7 Audio Questions
Preface: I know nothing about car audio and have searched and read on the forum for days now.
My understanding, likely incorrect, was that the 2001 SE7 had the H/K amp and Phillips speakers ... true? I couldn't care less about sound quality in the DII, but would like to have sound and at the moment I don't. I've replaced the original head unit with another stock, which worked occasionally, but randomly. Just bought a cheap aftermarket head and it doesn't work either. The shop thinks the amp is bad. I've searched for the H/K amps, but they don't look like the one currently under the driver's seat. I can't find any identifying stickers, etc. on mine, but it has the aluminum sink with the 'fins' and the H/K's I've seen don't have that. It's possible the PO replaced the amp at some point. All that said, I don't want to install an aftermarket amp and have to rewire the thing, I just want a used DII amp that will work for a while. Which amp can/should I put back in it? Is there something else I should do/consider?

I think the Harmon had a matching amp - because I installed a hK into my se7 which didn’t have one (just the pioneer stock) and the wiring for the speakers throughout is heavier gage AND the pin orientation is different..
so I’m fairly sure you cannot just toss a HK speaker replacement to pioneer setup.
I remember specifically having to re-arrange the pin orientation at the male end of the existing harness ran to each door speaker.
