Great build. But after cruising through the topic, my first impression was...this guy changes bumpers like most folks change their underwear...lol. Then I got the drift that you are doing this for research...or something like that.

Anyhow, great looking rig.

Brian.

Haha yeah... perks of the job I suppose. Ultimately I found the bumper I had wanted all along, the Safari Gard. Now that bumper is on my D1, and the D2 is long gone.

I love the rear Panhard conversion. I think I'm going to do that instead of replacing the rear balljoint. Which I've heard is a huge pain. Just don't trust myself to get the geometry right, so I'll be taking it to a professional.

I'm happy with the Terrafirma front.

I'm now inspired to go for the Greg Davis - he's actually making a batch now - but I'm a little hung up on losing the lights. What did you do Zack?

I also asked greg if he does any custom work

I need to get in on that. Greg's bumpers look like the best value I've seen. (and I need a rear bumper since my wife backed into a telephone pole...)

I rerouted my turn signals into my upper taillights, and had a LED work lamp on my roofrack wired into my reverse lights. The Greg davis is an awesome bumper, super strong and vey clean. Wish there was something like that for the D1

Good call. I'll do the same. Did you just get an amber bulb, or somehow re-paint the lens from clear to amber..?

edit: just looked up the 03'04 rear, and it looks like they have the turn signals in the upper. Is swapping those lenses a direct fit?

Turns out I'm reincarnating the ZGPhoto Disco 2 Just finished up from the front, greg davis is next.
Terrafirma, light bar, headlight conversion.

Nice!

Yes, I just bought the amber bulbs. I believe they're the same part number at an auto parts store, with an "A"suffix?

The lenses from an 03/04 are a direct fit.
