Superwinch TS9500SR (synthetic rope) or the TS11000 (steel rope/cable)
If you were getting a winch, which would you purchase?
Would you...
Go for the TS95000SR, synthetic rope, with less strength?
Or...
Go for the TS11000, steel cable, with more strength?
Both are within dollars of each other price-wise and are in my wheel-house for purchasing.
Thank you,
Brian.

Read that article I posted in the other thread- good info there.
I've decided to stay with steel all the reasons that they list as issues with synthetic. What it boils down to is that I'm lazy and don't want to have to "maintain" my winch. I just expect it to work and that's why I got a Warn.

I am also considering a winch and kind was wondering about your observation. I know there is a VR series of Warn that I would stay away from as they are made in China. Do you recall if the Warns you have witnessed failures from were VR series?
There are some I believe that are now made in China, but I do not believe the 9.5cti I have is.
I've always ran synthetic ropes on my jeeps and trucks just because of weight. I also kept covers on them. I know in the fire department, we swapped the synthetic rope out every year to two years depending on the amount of use. My neighbor just bought a smittybuilt winch from 4 wheel parts with a 3 year warranty and they told him if the steel cable broke, they would replace it with synthetic. The only thing with synthetic, and this is just me BC I'm OCD, if it gets soaked when I'm out playing, it's taken off and hung up to dry when I get home. But Ive also seen wire cables snap and mess up crap on trucks. I know they claim they don't but why do you think arb makes a killing with steel winch dampners
It's not even where it's made, it's the design and solenoid selection. When Rovers North ran the off road school, they would stack broken Warn winches. They switched to Superwinch and only broke cables. Go to an off-road event and you'll see plenty of failed Warns, either broken free spool, crunching gears, or total failure.

This was basically the motive for my question. I'd think 9500 would be on the light side.
Thanks, folks...for the info so far.
Brian.
