2002 disco 2 rear wheels not working
Have a 2002 disco 2, I have tc light, abs, brake, and steep hill light on. My rear wheels are not working when I drive it. I put in low, I start spinning, and only my front wheels spin, nothing from the rear. What can it be??
You need to be a little more specific but it sounds like you blew a rear diff.
If you put the truck in drive, what happens? While in drive, if it is not moving, look under the truck at both drive shafts, is one turning?

The car runs and drives fine, just when I was going up a muddy hill, I started spinning, and only the front to wheels was spinning, the rear wheels didn't turn or slip at all. I have a tc, brake, abs, and steep hill lights on. I've had the disco since march and I didn't know the awd didn't work. It worked before I got it, I seen it pull a car out of a ditch. Can the speed sensor be the problem?
Ok, now we are getting some where.
First, the truck is FULL TIME FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, not all wheel drive, there is a HUGE difference.
If your brake light is on then you need to check your brake fluid level and top off with a DOT 4 brake fluid.
Second what you have is called the "3 amigos", traction control, anti lock brake and hill decent control lights.
Do a search on this forum for the 3 amigos and you will find TONS of info, but I am going to take a stab in the dark...because your brake light is on you are low on brake fluid because you need new brakes.
When the brake pads get to thin it will set off the 3 amigos and when the lights are on you have no traction control, ABS or hill descent control.
Because your traction control is NOT working the transfer case sends the engines power to the wheels with the least resistance, in other words the wheels that have the least amount of traction, spinning tires means no traction.
So, take it to a brake shop for a free brake inspection, do this TOMMORROW!!
Let us know what you find.

I will take it to a brake shop Monday, I don't have one close to where I live. I just put new brakes on it all the way around. The left rear calliper was sticking and the inside brake pad had a hole in it. It was replaced once with a used one from a junk yard. Do I need to buy a new one?? Should I put different brake pads on it then ones from NAPA? I just put them on 3 months ago. Do I have to take it to Land Rover to have the lights turned off? Or can a brake shop do that? So the 3 amigos is what is making my rear wheels not catch when the front ones are slipping?
I must say that I worried about how the four-wheel drive system would work while my 3 amigos were on, too. I went off road this weekend to get to a cemetary on top of one of the mountains, here. (It's an old cemetary from 1800s with a family member in it.) Anyway... my amigos have been on for months and the stealership told me a couple weeks ago it is the ABS shuttle valve. Well, to my surprise my traction control seemed to work and do it's job, yesterday. The use of the term "road" would have to be used liberally in the best spots, the ruts were almost deep enough to leave me resting on the axles, and several spots were steep enough to require 3 runs at. None of it stopped this thing - not even the mud hole about axle deep (which I had to pull my cousin's Jeep out of! haha). My downhill decent control even worked on the way back down. I was completely surprised, but this was EXACTLY what I bought this thing for. Distinguished when needed, but rugged as I need. I believe my having good tires for off-roading helped, but the TC and HDC still worked with the 3 lights on. Any thoughts on that? It made me proud, nonetheless!
I was told that with the lights on that none of the system would work, I was under the assumption that only the bad wheel would not work but was told otherwise by a Rover mechanic and I took his word as the truth.
So, I guess that the TC and such does work with the lights on.
PMCCOMAS-NEVER buy brake pads froma junk yard, unless you are 10,000,000,000 billion miles from home and just need to make it to safety, replace your brake pads, the back ones at the very least.
www.atlanticbritish.com will get you better pads than at NAPA, but NAPA's best pads should be just fine.

I never bought brake pads from junk yard, only a calliper. I bought new pads through napa. I talked to discomike, my abs still works fine, just need to clean the wheels and sensors, make sure the rear calliper isn't sticking anymore, then go and have them reset. Appreciate all the help.
