Default 2003 disco with broken crank

I have a 2003 with what appears to be a broken crank at or just behind # 8 main. Took out the bell housing as well, flywheel is in bits. What years of engine block should i be looking for or will work for me?

Looking for a used engine or block now, harder to find good ones up here in Canada.

That had to make some serious noise when the crank snapped. What were you doing when this happened?

Not sure, got it like this, now going to fix. Must have been at high speed! Bottom half of the bell housing fell off when I unbolted the oil pan. Looks like rear main maybe spun and then the crank broke. Haven't got the pan right out yet so can't get the bearing caps off yet. Should be interesting.

Be sure to check oil pump gears or replace - oil starvation could be part of original issue....
