2003 Disco! check engine light - newbie.
I recently bought a 2003 land rover disco S with 89k highway miles. (bought from a dealer, but we knew the people that owned it.) After doing reserch and hearing the land rover horrar storys about relibilty, we still decided to buy it. There is supposidly a 100k mile warrenty on it, but we still havent gotten a notice back from land rover that the transfer was accepted. the carfaxs shows no major problems, except a radiatior problem at around 40k miles. Knowing the people and how well they take care of things (they have ample money to, and do mantain things), we thought this is a no brainer. its also cheaper then a f-150s with more miles on them. and the stlying is in my opionion the best of anything on wheels.
Things wroung with it found after 30 miles-
head lights fog with water
sqeak in the modling in the rear of the truck
check engine light on after 1 day owning.
we have checked the gas cap and seems to be in place (crank sound when you twist it). it is driving and sounding normal. any one have this problem or have sumwhat a solution? i will be contacting my land rover dealer tommarow, but you know how post1990 dealers work.
It also runs at a higher idle for about 30 seconds after start up (i thinks this is normal). it dose seem to run a bit rough (vibrates) but i assume this is the nature of the v8.
hopefully this will be covered.

Don't assume and hope alot when it comes to any new vehicle.
Go by you local auto parts store and they will read your codes for free. Get back to us with the 4 digit numbers and lets see if we can help you.

A four cylinder engine vibrates more than a V8, the more cylinders you have the smoother running the engine.
If it vibrates at idle it is most likely a bad spark plug wire, get the codes read.
Yes it is supposed to idle higher when cold, the head lights have moister inside them, most likely a bad seal.
Just because the previous owner has money doesnt mean that they took care of it.
Never assume anything, if you dont know ask. There is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers.
Make sure that you use premium gas.

Thanks guys, i took it to auto zone, it read the fuel cap haha! altough it did have a bad spark plug that my father changed, (he worked at a ford dealer all his life). im sure you all will be seeing my regulary around here!
At that mileage, all the plugs and wires need to be replaced if you want it to run right.
Only use 8 mm Magnecore wires when you replace them.
