That's what you get going to a fairly new Rover dealer.
They must have done something with your coolant system, sounds like you have air in the coolant and when it goes thru the heater you hear it. Call them and get it back in the shop so they can bleed the air out.
If you don't mind a short drive, go up to Santa Barbara and visit the guys at East West Motors, one of the best Rover service senters on the coast.

Thanks for the quick reply and info about East West Motors. I'll give them a call.

Part of the repair procedure is to lift the air manifold, and then work on your valve covers mentioned before. To remove the manifold some coolant hoses have to be disconnected, so they would have partially (or fully drained) your coolant. When they filled it back up they screwed up and didn't bleed it. Those guys really hosed you man. You can either fight them, or say to hell with them, write off the 1600 dollars and go to a real mechanic. I generally write them off, it makes me so mad I don't even want to talk to them again, and I'll just spread abunch of bad word about them. Unless there is something you are holding back, you got seriously hosed.
