Default 2003 discovery HSE7 4.6 wont move or park

Recently purchased a 03 hse7 with 154k my first rover beautiful rig but im bummed because it doesnt move and park wont engage. It starts as it should i can shift from park to 1st and get no noise or responce no codes or lights displaied front drive shaft was removed by previous owner and will need replaced. I had a hard time getting it out of 4 hi but once it was in neutral it will pop between neutral and lo easily but will not go back into high. Would like some help and ideas on where to start. I believe its a combo of a bad transmission and transfercase but every transmission shop i ask say they are "weird" and they know nothingnothing.

An 03 won't go anywhere without the front drive shaft. Only vehicles with a locking CDL will do that, and that was not an option in 03.

BTW Welcome, this is the welcome forum, technical questions will get more views in the Discovery 2 forum.

You'll have to have a front drive shaft and the transfer case will need to be in either hi or low range. It will not go when it is in N.

Yeah, you'll need to install a new driftshaft. It won't move without it. Double check for damage on transmission case, in the area of driveshaft...since...it is very common for the driveshaft to come apart and destroy transmission.

If you're local to Philly I have a factory front driveshaft that's in good working order you can have for $30 (what my local yard charges). It's not greasable so it's not something you want to use long term however it would save you from have to spend a lot of money to find out your trans is bad.
