Default 2003 LR Disco II HSE newby

Newby LR owner. I've just purchased a 2003 LR II HSE with 47.3K miles on its clock. The car is in very good shape 9.5 out of 10 the paint is glossy there's nothing broken,no rubbers cracking or dry by sun damage, car has been garaged, interior looks like new.

The prior owner gave me all service records performed for this vehicle, with a new battery, new tires and brakes have just been serviced by a Rover dealer.(has all books and keys) last oil changed was done in July 2009 and since then she has driven less then 2500 miles.

I've just passed the smog today and got it inspected by a mechanic it drives really smooth without any vibration or funny trans noises no Christmas tree lights coming off on its dash . My questions being a new owner and not knowing enough about the brand ( Mitsubishi owner) is what to aspect in terms of usual maintenance and where to go when in need of parts for this car here in West Coast (Los Angeles) are you guys on synthetic or regular oil. One more question what kind of mileage are you getting on this beast.

Thanks in advance

As a former Mitsubshi owner, and a very recent Rover owner I can tell you you are in for a surprise. I have spent more money in the last 2 months on my Rover maintenance than I did with the Misubishi in 2-years.
You should do a search on 2003 oil pumps, I believe from what I've read here that 2003 was a real bad year for oil pumps. I believe you can find out by running your VIN if you truck has a "Potentially" bad oil pump. Not all 2003 have bad pumps there are people on here that have plenty on milage on what is supossed to be a bad oil pump.
Use synthetic where ever you can engine oil, transfer case & differentials.
You can exspect to see 12-16 mpg, but they will be the most comfortable that you will ever drive.
There is a Sticky at the top of the first page called "major service" you should look closely at that it say's 60000 miles, but where you truck have been sitting you want to get those fluids out of there as quickly as posssible.
Low milage can be more damaging than high milage sometimes; because it let's condesation build up in the pans and diffs, and when you start driving the condensation/water gets mixed into the fluids.
Welcome to the life as a Land Rover owner you will find plenty of help here.
I wish I could give you more but I am new myself

x2 to what drowssap said, plus you need to take a look at your front drive shaft. If all 3 of the u-joints don't have zerks (grease fittings) then you need to have the driveshaft rebuilt with greasable u-joints and a new centering ball, or replaced with a drive shaft that already has these things.
