Checked my fan it does feel like peanut butter when warmed up and will not freewheel when try to spin it also air is flowing in correct direction through radiator towards engine so strong in fact can hold cardboard up to the grill. The bottom hose is actually not even getting warm it feels like. I wonder if PO put some additive in it and clogged it up.

I might just rip the radiator out to check it out.

If you can't hear the fan spin up and roar ever - like when you come off the highway and you have the foot off the gas and slow to 50 and then to 45 - my fan is roaring and pulling air with a new Hayden Fan clutch..

Cold - I had the new and the old fan clutch side by side.
The new clutch had twice as much resistance to turning.

I would replace the fan clutch.

Replace the radiator
and put in a real Land Rover 180 thermostat. Not a junk Motorad.

The other clue that things are wrong..
You come off the highway and go into a parking lot.
Your AUX electric fan is running - without the A/C on.

That means your engine is over 210 to 212F and the AUX fan is turned on by the ECU to help avoid overheating.

I don't have ANY of these issues now since replacing the three musketeers:
RAD, Thermostat and Fan clutch.

Don't miss these issues either.

I put a scanner on the OBD2 and at 75 Degrees F out -
I was running 189F down hills on the highway
205 or so in town when idling
and 190 to 195F on the interstate at 60 MPH.

Glad you got it under control I'm a big fan of the inline thermostat. I've run mine a few months now and love the results so far.
