Default 2003 SE Disco Suspension issue?

Hey guys I own a 2003 SE Disco with approx 62k miles. I just noticed that one side of my vehicle is now sitting about an inch or two higher than the other side. I also just noticed that it sounds like a comporessor releases everyonce in a while. This does not affect the drive of the vehicle. but it is a noticeable difference. Any ideas on what it may be or how it could be fixed??

Your height sensors are going bad. Unless youi know what you are doing this is a dealer only repair.

Spike, thanks for the feedback. When replacing the height sensors should you replace the whole set or just the faulty sensor(s)? By the way any idea on the price range for this repair?

I would replace the faulty one only. I do not know how much the parts are or if the height sensor is one unit or inside the airbag.
I looked at www.atlanticbritish.com and could only find the compressor and the airbag.

The hieght sensors are on the suspension arms, you can see them just infront of the rear wheels if you look throught the wheel arch. They are easy enough to change, and not very expensive, how ever they should be calibrated with testbook upon replacement, but in saying that, I recently had one split on its eye end where it joins the suspension arm, so not having access to testbook etc, I took the plunge and changed it anyway.

What I did was make sure the vehicle is on level ground and at normal height, I then disconnected the battery BEFORE replacing the sensor. I then fitted the new one, plugged it in, reconnected the battery and started the car. I used the offroad switch etc to raise and lower the vehicle several times, and whether it was by luck or judgement, it to this day it has been fine, all works well and sits perfectly level.

I would also put jack stand on the frame I always us extra caution when working on the on the rear! What if you air bags gave out your whole back end could drop down to the bump stops! OUCH

but you dont need to jack anything up to change the sensor, and its very unlikely you will have 2 bags fail + "if" you jack it at all, you will move the neutral position and could affect the sensor installation and then DEF need a testbook calibration session.....
