The coolant levels vary in these trucks mine is always at trucks 1 level cold and I have zero Leaks
the clamps I’m not sure what’s going on

but #2 looks good as well if he did the head gaskets

#2 did not have the head gasket done. What makes me wonder are his claims that there is absolutely no leaks or signs of HG failure.
"I have my maintenance records. The shaft is new. The water pump, thermostat and radiator were replaced. The head gaskets show no signs of being bad or going bad and it pulls my jet boat with ease."

I thought the only LRs that dont leak are the empty ones.. Does the dealership pressure test during pre-purchase inspection or just check for leaks? Is there anything more I can do besides Block Tester from Auto Zone?

The Autozone Pressure tester will pump it up to 20 foot pounds and see if it moves. You could also test for exhaust gasses in the coolant, and do a visual inspection while warm.

Just as a caution, I would start with 10 pounds and see if there's a pressure or coolant loss over an hour. Just because the cap is rated for 20 deosn't mean the system operates there. You may induce other problems at max pressure.

It probably does not leak now but at 140 k it’s just a matter of time before you have to do it

it’s like Subaru’s the head gaskets are a big issue with them and same for these d2

now for some folks it’s not a big deal but it can get pricey if you take it to a shop

I owned two 03’s from new & I sold em both around 165-180k and I never touched the HG’s. That was also way before the 180F thermostat was being used. The only issues I had on both = spark plug wires, purge control valves, and broken air box clips. Besides that they ran fantastic!

My 02 Kalahari with 235K had them done at around 120k. My 99 had them done at 80K (has 111k on it now), and they were just changed out while it was having other work done.

I also personally go for 150K and above LR’s as well. My 99 was the exception to that rule as I knew the owner & it’s full service history from 2 of my best friends.

The only thing I would do with an 04 is strip the parts and put them on the 99-02

If I had an 04 I drove all the time (barely drive my 04 vs my 99 & 02) I’d have a 4.0L V8 in it lol

The tools that machined the Rover V8 were on their last legs in 03-04. LR quality control = didn’t care as the LR3 was about to debut. If you have to have a 4.6L grab it out of an 02 Range Rover.
