Default 2004 Disco SE 39k miles value?

What should I pay for a 2004 Disco SE with 39K miles?
KBB private seller has this car in the mid $11k range is this to much?
The seller wants $13k,way to much IMHO.

Depends on the shape of the engine and what has been done to it. If it is in pristine shape and no issues I would not pay more than 7 grand. You can get higher mileage ones all day long for under 5K.

Was it driven lately? or did the owner buy it, drive it for a while, then just store it?

Basically the first owner had it for 8 years and put on 29K miles. Had it serviced at the dealer. The 2nd owner only had it 11 months and now the new owner just purchased it last month and I assumed paid way to much for it.
The Disco is very clean, I drove it today, for a 10 year old car, wow looks almost new inside and out. Never taken off road. Oh well I made an offer but he rejected it, though maybe he will call me back I a week after I hope he gets no other offers.

Just to much money. Oh well.

Generally I find that, if you take the KBB and Edmunds TMV values, and calculate the average, you get a fair result. KBB tends to be high, and Edmunds on the low side.

For your car, KBB = 11K, Edmunds 5.5K. Average is 8.25K. Well, it's a starting point.

Used vehicles with low mileage can be a blessing and a curse.
Seals and bearings tend to dry up if the vehicle is not used occasionally. Best to get a pre-purchase inspection to check it mechanical condition before you agree on a final offer price.

You mentioned the last owner has just purchased it and is now planning to sell it. Did you give a reason for selling it so soon?

ACG,
Thanks for the tip.
The current owner is a wealthy guy who at least claims that he purchased the Disco on impulse, yet the his wife really wants a 4 door Jeep Rubicon.

Again, I think he is going to hold out for more money from another wealthy buyer.
