Default 2004 Disco SE7 OEM Radio replacement

Hi, the radio does not turn on, checked the 2 fuses, OK. Radio PART NO. XQD000340PUY. Will I damage any ECUs if I replace it with a radio from my 2001 disco. RADIO PART NO. XQD000340LNF. Thanks.

The stock radio's are so much better. i put a pioneer in mine, VERY dissapointed, its either to basy or to trembly, theres no inbetween and just "EQ" settings.

My concern in replacing the 2004 radio with one out of a 2001 is the body network. I understand that the 2003 and 2004 are setup differently than the 2000 2002.

On Ebay, the listings are split between pre 2003 and post 2003. Hopefully, a Land Rover electronics expert can shed some light on this one.

You can always send it in to one of the major auto radio repair centers found on line.

Did you check the fuse on the back of the stereo?

Thanks for the suggestion. Checked the fuse in the radio and the power coming from fuse 16 in the panel under the steering column.
I will take the risk and plug the one out of my 2001 in the 2004 and see how much smoke that generates.
If it works, will get a used radio for it.

Just remember all electronics run on smoke. Once you let the smoke out they don't work anymore.

MY PROBLEM IS FIXED: I ended up replacing the damaged factory radio on my 2004 PART NO. XQD000340PUY, with a factory radio out of a 2001 PART NO. XQD000340LNF. The unit out of a 2001 works fine in the 2004 and it controls the CD changer with no issues.

For some reason, the info available on the web segregates the 1999-2002 radios from 2003 - 2004 radios. This is not the case, they are all interchangeable.

Glad it worked, I didn't think it would.
