2004 Disco wont start UPDATE - fuel issue
I have determined that my fuel pump is NOT coming on when ignition is on. I have checked ALL fuses and all is good.
I am trying to check to see if I am getting power to the pump however I do not have a wirnig diagram. Could anyone tell me which wire is the live in the connection above the fuel pump ???
thanks in advance

You will be checking power at the white/purple stripe wire. You should see battery voltage for about 8-10 seconds when you turn the key to position 2 and then drop to zero. Check while cranking as well, you should have source voltage constant while cranking. Make sure you check the ground circuit integrity as well.

yes the check engine light does go out when i crank the engine.
thanks tacomatech that's exactly the info. i needed. I am thinking that a. i have a bad relay even though it does click when it cranks or b. a bad inertia switch or c. a bad fuel pump any other ideas ?? I will check the white/purple wire tomorrow am. and post the results.

Did you have a friend help you crank while you check? The priming only lasts for 8-10 seconds or less, so it might have stopped by the time you get back to the pump. Also, you said you do have power when cranking, so do you hear the pump running, too?

Fixed the problem !!!
I was getting power to the pump when cranking, so I was pretty sure it was the pump. I took the pump out of the tank and then bench tested it. worked fine ! now i was a little confused but i read somewhere that sometimes pumps can lock up and they need to be freed up. So I replaced the pump and bingo fired right up.
However I think the writing is on the wall, my pump is on its way out so i'm ordered a new one but at least i can drive it still and its not stuck on my drive way.
thanks discomike for helping troubleshoot.
