I pulled the line off the sending unit. Fuel came out but I would not call it pressurized it kind if just Sept out with no pressure at all

What kind of pressure should come out when the line is pulled off pump? I was expecting a gusher a decent amount of fuel came out but just slowly dumped out, no spraying or anything like that

It should hold whatever pressure was in the line when the car was turned off, as you've closed off anywhere for the fuel to go. I know it's not direct injection, so it should be around 50 PSI.

Ok, I replaced the pump and sending unit. Haven't driven it anywhere far yet but as of now it starts way easier than it ever did and has started first try every time since replacement. I also noticed I can hear the pump run when the key is turned on but never could before so I'm assuming it was weak. I guess time will show if this was the problem. Thanks for all the advice, this is a great forum here

Did you use oem fuel pump or aftermarket?

I went with aftermarket, I know oem is better but it's a third vehicle that doesn't get much use and there's some other things I need to work out still with it. On another note I keep getting the m and s flashing lights only after it sits a couple days. I get a check engine light with them that comes back as the xyz switch but also as low voltage. If I shut it off they clear themselves and the check engine light clears after about 10 min of driving. When I test the battery after sitting a few days I get 12.39 volts. I hear these are finicky about batteries, could this be the problem?

My D2 is doing exactly the same thing...cold start in the morning and then run errands then warm starts takes 2-5 attempts to start. Hot starts are fine when you shut down er down then restart right away works. I just want to confirm that the fuel pump was the issue?
