2004 Discovery - Worth the upgrade?
Hi Everyone,
I presently own a '98 Disco and it's coming to the point of upgrading to a newer one and I've been looking at an 04 with great KM's and had a easy driven life. From what im told by some people is that 2004 was a bad year for land rovers and they should all be avoided.. (Discos and RR's are always making non stop trips to the shop) - Does anyone else feel the same way? Anyone want to help shed some light before I regret the purchase on what seems to be a great deal.
Thanks In advance
Greg

For what it's worth I love my '04 and the problems I've had have been the main ones you'll see time and time again on this forum with all discos(three amigos, ABSmodule, u-joints, minor coolant leak, door lock actuators, etc.) And as far as disco's go, most people on here would agree that the '04 is the BEST model you can buy as far as reliability and off-roading because they brought back the CDL.
I agree. I have driven an 04, and it is what I want. If you are coming from a 98, You will like the 04 the best out of all the D2's. CDL came back, and the last year made...
I have an 03' (No CDL) and I love it for what I do. Daily driver, pull a 21' wakeboarding boat, and light off roading. Def get the Nitto Grappler tires for it if you have the 18" wheels.
Ok, all of your reviews sound good - What year was the CDL omitted? 03 and back for 04? - Doesn't seem like anyone is having any stand out issues...
Thanks again
Greg
