Default 2004 fan clutch

So after reading the posts about severe duty fan clutches in the disco 2 forums I bought one. It does not work. My fan and clutch are one. What year did they change? What are the people with one piece fans/clutches doing?

03 and 04 are different than early ones. (but I think the hub on the water pump is the same so you could possibly put an earlier clutch/fan combination on it)

I think the 03 04 fan is better, more blades, and it's a little cheaper than the 99-02 assembly, of course it's more expensive in this case since you don't need the whole thing.

You can get just the 99-02 blades, but by the time you add the clutch, you are pretty close to the price of a new assembly.

The Hayden 2991 server duty clutch for the DII is less than $60.

you can use a fan blade for a 99-02, pick one up at a boneyard for a few bucks

The older fan will work fine on your 4.6.

I got it sorted. I used'02 astro blades for $37 at autozone in stock. Perfect fit for the '02 astro severe duty fan clutch. Had to trim blades a little.

That could be a mistake. First you never trim the blades, that weakens them and they will crack and second, you should not use a HD clutch, draws too much horse power.
