Default 2004 T/C shifter question

I have a 2004 Disco 2 that came up from the States.

It was built in Jan 2004 & has a T/C from a 2003 without the CDL.

(had the same problems with my 1999 Disco 2, had an engine & ABS from a Disco 1!)

Picked up a T/C from a 2004 and am wondering how to delete the shift lock on the shifter?

It is not removable from the shifter bracket could one just cut off the ear on the shifter that it holds to lock?

Also the wiring harness to the T/C has an extra detent plug hanging from a wire. Could I assume that the wiring harness is set up for the CDL type T/C?

i believe the solenoid will come out of the bracket with enough work, but i elected to simply cut the pin off of the solenoid, rather than the ear off of the lever. i believe my reasoning at the time was that i would have had to cut off a significant amount of metal for the pin to completely clear the entire throw of the lever, and i would have had to re mount the shifter to get enough leverage to test my cut. whereas cutting the pin was a sure fire win.

in any case, it took about 30 seconds with a pneumatic die grinder.

Im not sure about the extra plug. i assume that it has something to do with CDL as apposed to a 99-03 model.

That's interesting, I wonder why would anyone change the linkage on a 04 to a non locking version! Does it still have the original transfer case with the CDL nipple? & the sticker in cabin above shifter indicating CDL locking precedure? Or did someone down the line changed the transfer case altogether to a non locking one,

I think I'll do the same & cut the plunger instead of the lever.

I believe it came from the factory with the '03 T/C, reasons why:

Non CDL shift lever & floor plate (hole isn't large enough for lever to move sideways)

No CDL nipple

Non CDL sticker nor shifter ****
