245/75R16 tires on stock wheels

Default 245/75R16 tires on stock wheels

I have a 2001 disco with stock tires and stock ride (no lift) The tires on it are 255/65R16, they are good road tires but I want something more aggressive and dirt friendly. A friend told me about tread wrights (they are re-tread tires) My friend bought some and loves them. I can get some aggressive mud tires for $108 each and the size is 245/75R16. Will I have any issues putting these tires on a stock ride? The other option they have is 285/75R16 but that is even further away from stock. So I'm looking at a little more narrow tire and a bit taller (29.05" diameter vs 30.46" on the 245s). I know the speedo will be off by about 4 mph, what other issues will I have? Will they rub? The disco is for playing in the hills and running around town some.

You should be just fine, I was running 265/70/16 on stock suspension with no problems at all, not even close to rubbing.

I just put them on mine a couple weeks ago. They fit great no issue over bumps or anything...you'll be fine

Also, looking at treadwright's website it seems that all of their 245/75R16 tires support up to an 8" wide rim, so you should be fine there too.

running treadwrights in that size right now on stock height suspension. only issue is turning hard right they rub, not so turning hard left; guess i could adjust the stops but haven't yet.

I had 245/75/16 on stock suspension, and the only issue I had was a slight rub on the bottom of the wheel well plastic liner on the front side of the front wheel wells just behind the front bumper when I turned. All 245/75/16s are not the same size, so that may to may not be an issue with your particular tire, but very minor rubbing in any case.
