Default 265/ 60/ R18 fit on Stock Disco?

Hey guys,

I found some Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires that were taken off an LR3 for a steal. They are 265/ 60/ R18. Any chance I can make these work for the winter on my stock 18in rims at stock ride height on my D2? Thanks

Yep. I ran that same size on mine for 8 months before adding a lift. They fit and look perfect. However mine was an 04 and stock springs were in really good shape, so if yours are really sagging then it could get iffy.

Yes, these tires will run OK on a D2. The standard tires on 18" wheels are 255 55 R18 therefore the aspect ratio is very marginally larger. Therefore your speedo will show slightly slower than actual road speed (be careful of the guys in blue) and provided the lock stops are adequate, circa 20-23mm, there should be no problems of binding against the anti-sway bar.

I currently run 255 50 R19 (Disco 3/RRS) wheels and tires for highway use without any issues.

I have to say whereas this should be the case I honestly feel like the D2 speedos are off some. Both of my D2's ran about 5mph slower than what the speedos read prior to larger tires.

With 265/65r18 I'm running now when my speedo says 70mph I've had a friend who's an officer use his radar and it read 70mph. This could however just be a fluke with my Rovers.

Agreed. The UK law requires that the speedo MUST read slower than actual road speed so generally they are inaccurate. The law officers allow 10% error margin in the UK before you're nicked, unlike the French gendarmes who will nick you for 1kilometre/hour over the limit. So at 70mph (max speed limit in the UK) you are allowed up to 77mph. A tolerant officer will allow 80mph. This week I saw 95mph on my speedo, but I'm on French reg plates ..................... so no worries

This explains a lot! I guess if they fixed the speedo on the exports then that would make their fuel mileage even less appealing.

Correction, MUST read faster than the actual road speed. i.e. if reading 70mph speedo you are actually doing approx 67mph true road speed.

Re mpg I haven't a clue but my 4.0 D2 V8 auto averaged I reckon about 16mpg/ imperial galllon.
