Default 3 Amigos?

I've been looking at posts all night and I still have figure out what exactly the 3 Amigos problem is. I'm interested to find out because I'm wondering if I have that same problem. I have a 95 disco and the dashboard lights and taillights just went out again after replacing the headlight assembly on the steering column. I also have a problem with my ABS where it comes on only during left turns or over bumpy terrain. Anyways those are just a few of my many problems. My main question is what exactly are the 3 Amigos problems? Thank-you very much.

3 amigos are a Discovery II problem. Hill descent, traction control, and anti-lock brakes quit working at the same time. Your Discovery I has not got the three amigos but something else.

it may not be that they quit working, but that a fault is coded into the computer,,,

it can happen simply because the ABS sensors on the wheel hubs get dirty, because your brake pads are worn and causing resonating in the hubs that throw a fault or because the ABS itself has gone bad.

more then likely changing brake pads and spraying clean your ABS sensors with cleaner will fix a faulting tres amigos problem.

soon after buying my 04 i started getting the 3 aholes. dont worry. you can still stop and drive. but your lights will stay lit until you kill the engine. they will stay off unless you fault the system again. i changed my pads and cleaned my ABS sensors and have not had a issue since.

easy peesy

here is a simple rule of thumb that my dad taught me and people i know that work in garages will tell you,,,

start with the simplest and cheapest thing and work from there. dealers and shops will tell you its the worst case scenario but perform their services in the same way.

my dads coworker bought a rover right after me based on my gushing,,,he just sold it because a shop quoted him 5k to do a head gasket swap claiming the engine needed to be overhauled,,,

now the guy has ZERO wrenching skills and knows nothing about cars, so these guys must have read him like a book. anyways i saw him this week and he told me he sold it right away and i said "well yeah,,, a gasket swap only costs about 1200 bucks. you were being taken,,,"

he just frowned and walked away.

tangent over
