3 Amigos ABS Modulator Question
Ok, so I've got the three amigos. They've been on since before I bought the truck 2.5 years ago. I also have this '04 parts truck. No idea if it ever had the amigos, but it has this ABS Modulator with a 2006 manufacture date. Now, I don't know when the 3 amigos became a problem or when a fix was invented, but would this 2006 modulator likely have the fix? Thanks guys!
I would first check to see WHY you have the Amigos. They can be caused from a modulator issue, wheel speed sensor issue, SLABS ECU issue, etc.
I am going from memory, but I thought the remedy from LRNA was to replace the whole modulator, if the cause was modulator related. That might be why your modulator is two years newer than the vehicle. To my knowledge, LR never made an "improved" modulator that eliminates the shuttle valve switch failure.
Bottom line: scan for codes first.

Thanks!
I just ordered one of these to figure out the problem. Cheapest one in the stores(harbor freight/autozone etc) were 130$ or more, so 40$ is not bad at all. Land rover is in the list of the companies this thingy is able to work with.
Another news, you dont even need to spend 40$ on a reader!
autozone does have them on 'loan a tool'. You give them 140$, get the reader, and they will give your money bck once you return the item in good shape. That is what i am going to do in an hour.

Thanks Drow, I know that but I was thinking I might try to replace the modulator just as a shot in the dark since I had it anyway if it had the fix, but it's looking like it doesn't unless it was fixed a second time after the dealership replacement unit. Doesn't hurt to try if it's free
Definitely post back if you can actually pull your ABS codes with that, but it looks a lot like the $8 scanner I have from Amazon. And as for the AutoZone thing, they do have scanners they will rent you but they won't pull our ABS codes.

You guys were right! I called them in day time and asked strictly for an ABS reader...she said yes, 140$ loaner. So i showed up at the store an hour ago, told her that i am there for the ABS reader, she gave me a device which says obdII on it, i asked again, this is an abs reader right and she said yes. But it was just a regular obdII reader, i have a 5$bluetooth one with Torque on my phone, who would anyone land 140$ for a 10year old obd reader anyway?! I will go back to the store to get my money back. I think i will need to wait until the ebay one arrives
