3rd gear problem

Angry 3rd gear problem

Hi all I'm having trouble with my auto box it sometimes go's into 3rd gear and sticks there iv changed the oil and filter went a run all was fine when I got home put it in revers and then drive and it was in 3rd again turn it off and wait 10 seconds and away u go in first any help would be brilliant

Sounds like the gearbox is going into "Safe Mode". When it does this, what does the gearbox display in the instrument cluster show? It will not read the same as when the gearbox is operating normally. First suspect would be the XYZ switch on the gearbox (wet or corroded).

Btw, are you in Canada or Scotland?

When in Safe Mode, the tranny is locked into 3rd, which is not what he is describing.

Sure sounds like he said it's locked into 3rd gear to me.
