Default 4.0 engine in an 03 disco

Quick question for reassurance, will i run into any problems putting my 4.0 engine in the 03 discovery since it originally runs the 4.6?

No, unless one is SAI and the other isn't.

And yes, as Charlie mentioned...if one is SAI and ones not...some computer changes need to be made and reprogramming is in order. Edit, unless you don't mind looking at CEL.

Brian.
I think you mean the 4.6 crank sensor yes? Are they not the same on the 4.0 and 4.6? What if you use the 4.0 flywheel.. do you still have to change the sensor and weld the block?

I have a 4.0 motor being delivered next week for my 03 4.6 D2 I was assured by the seller that there would be no issues with the exchange. I hope he wasn't lying to me.

Edit: wrong information. Apologies for steering the conversation in the wrong direction.

Edit: wrong information. It looks like it is a direct swap.

Im putting my 4.0 and transmission into the new rover, uusing the same trans would mean no flywheel worries right? As far as the crank sensors i was told about the wiring harness change like you said. Going from basic to sai tho, would the lack of this system cause a check eng light?

Since the '03 will be expecting to see SAI, it will throw errors if it doesn't find it. You could take care of it by using the SAI-equipped heads from the 4.6 engine.
