4:11 drive train

Well, a D2 isn't exactly the ultimate off road vehicle, LOL.
IMO, if you're going to regear and add lockers and HD driveshafts you should lift 3-4" and run some 35" tires.
Also, I don't think you mentioned lockers..... These should be high on your list. The best gears in the world won't stop the spider gears on a stock diff from grenading.

The re-gearing and upgrade to lockers is not always about being abel to go farther. the truth is the diffs are a weak link. With the fact that you are already at +2 from stock with the large tire it is just a matter of time before you pop a diff. So you re do the diffs with the 4:11 gearing to offset the larger tire. and while you are there there is no reason not to upgrade to lockers. aside from the added traction their build will ensure you a much higher rate of NOT popping due to their construction. The added bonus is the ability to go further to get stuck harder. And thats what its all about.

ARB LOCKERS W/ 4:11's - http://lucky8llc.com/Products.aspx?ProductID=2170
DETROIT LOCKER - http://lucky8llc.com/Products.aspx?ProductID=2512
DETRIOT TRUE TRAC - http://lucky8llc.com/Products.aspx?ProductID=2513
Arb you turn on with a button, Detroit lockers are permanently locked except when turning, and True Trac's are pretty much limited slips with no clutch plates. Lucky8 reseals and puts new bearings in the diffs as well (stated on website)

No not really. once again the factory diff, gearing aside is one of the weakest links in the drive train. The carrier is under built for the ability if the vehicle. So in time and with the addition of heavy duty suspension (added weight), larger tires( more weight) and any other aftermarket upgrade all add weight, you go pop. With an upgrade to a locked diff aside from the extra off road traction capacity, you give your self a carrier that is exponentially stronger than the factory one. So no not overkill when you take into consideration all the extra weight you have put on your truck.
