I know this is an old thread but how did you get on with the front covers?

I'm currently running the 4.0 cover on a 4.6. only have about a week run time on it. So far so good. 40 plus psi warm at idle with Rotella 20w50 in the south east. All new bearings and oil pump.

I don't recall wot PSI but I think it was over 65. Measured via oil filter pancake. I don't drive the rover often.

The 03 had a broken timing chain and oil pump. The chain cracked the cover. Dowel pins were removed from the block for experiment.

Ah gotcha. Do both of the covers have the angled oil filter or does one aim straight down?

That I couldn't answer, it's been too long since I held both against one another. If memory serves me correctly the only difference besides the giant window the damaged timing chain put in the 4.6 cover when it snapped was the absence of threaded ports for the oil cooler.

The 4.0 is angled, I do recall that much

Ah ok I see. My 4.0 is angled and have a eye on a 4.6 from a range rover that's straight down. Wanted to know if that front cover is compatible.

My 4.6 is from an 03 disco, likely being the difference.

Will happily find NA spec 4.6 disco motors for you and trade for UK spec diesel with matching slush box!
