Bosch O2's from autozone/advance are good products and they last a good while. They aren't really cheap either. You don't really need an O2 wrench either, just the right size wrench and some PB blaster.

Elizabeth City? I'm in Charlotte btw.

Head Gaskets were done at 179,000 miles. I am still not convinced that the head gaket is shot just yet. Looking at the plugs, the #8 plug (the one with the mis-fire) is not "super clean", nor do I have white smoke blowing in the exhaust when I notice the rough idle.

Bosh O2 sensors from Auto zone are $280 with free shipping and $40 dollar gift card. AB is $240 plush shipping.

Both plugs have approx 15,000 miles on them. It is obvious that #8 has a mis-fire. But I am not sure it is from a coolant leak b/c it is not "super clean" as described above. I drove the truck all week w/o a CEL coming on. However, I did notice the truck has a rough idle sometimes when it first starts and them runs fine for the 60 mile drive to work.

I do think I have two issues going on here.

(1) I have a coolant leak that I need to chase down. I am still slowly losing coolant (about a qt per week). I have no signs of coolant in the oil. No "sweet" smell from coolant buring off before it hits the ground and no smoke in the exhaust.

(2) something is causing the mis fire. Plugs, wires, coils packs. - Not sure......

Does anyone have any sugestions before I start spending money buying plugs, wires, coil packs, etc?

ok....that doesnt look like a headgasket leak, but stranger things have happened so i would recc looking into hat cylinder one morning, BEFORE starting the vehicle.
the only misfire you have is for cylinder #8. Move the wire onto another plug and run the vehicle. If the misfire moves, you found your problem.
when you pulled the plug, were there any visible hairline cracks in the ceramic, etc?

I would do a cooling system pressure test with #8 spark plug out before i spent any more money.

I tried it with just a wrench, and yes I could have made it work, but with the right tool a bit of wd-40 and a ball ping hammer it was butter easy.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I think I will give each of them a try and see what happens.

This is what I will try:

1st pull plug #8 and scope cylinder 1st thing w/o running to see what i find.

2nd do a presure test and then scope to see if I find anything in the cylinder.

3rd if no luck with scoping cylinder I will move / replace the plug wire and see if the mis-fire follows the wire.

ALSO, I had the CEL light come on this AM. Two codes this time. P0308 and a new one I have no idea is P1319? I had some grey smoke when I first start up, then the smoke cleared up once the truck is up to opperating temp.

This has become a trouble-shooting game. I guess this is fun as long I don't get stranded on the side of the road and/or blow somethng up. =)

P1319 is a low fuel misfire.

Thanks Drowssap. To the OP. There is your problem..You got a intermitantly sticking injector. Its will either stick open or stick closed starting that cylinger or dumping more fuel than needed which will explain your smokey startups, your misfires and your flashing CEL. when a CEL flashes, its indicating a condition that is causing damaging to the cats. Replace the injector, the plug, have a few beers and call me in the morning.
